HISTORY

The study of design starts from the awareness of our origins: the logo represents a stylized steering wheel, icon of MOMODESIGN’s know-how and historical logo of the style center.

One of the first MOMO’s steering wheel mounted on Ferrari vehicles which was the inspiration for the creation of the logo, today the symbol of MOMODESIGN. John Surtees, Niki Lauda, Gilles Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher are some of the pilots of the famous scuderia that won with MOMO.

The 80s

MOMODESIGN was established in 1981 on the wake of MOMO’s success as a leading luxury car accessories manufacturer: a new Design Studio specializing in research and development of car design within the company.

Since the very beginning, MOMODESIGN has focused on new ideas and innovative projects in lifestyle accessories, aiming at building and spreading the brand’s image throughout the world.

The watch is the memorable product of the brand. In the early 80s the MOMODESIGN Style Center created his firs timepiece, the “ESSENZIALE”, leaving its mark in men watches field. It was displayed in MOMA museum in New York in 1982.

This technological DNA led to the creation of a range of men’s accessories, which are made out of innovative materials such as carbon fibre, titanium, and magnesium. These formed part of the brand’s first identity, and have continued to be passed down over time.

The 90s

Momodesign has inherited the image heritage that MOMO has created in the world, an image based on cutting-edge products and car design with a sporting and technological imprint.

At the end of the 90’s an American company takes over MOMO and Marco Cattaneo, the managing director, decided to start his own business by buying the MOMODESIGN brand, and to take on a new challenge along with his son Paolo and daughter Eleonora: to turn MOMODESIGN into an independent and international brand with its own identity and philosophy.

The 2000s

In 2000 MOMODESIGN decided to enter in two-wheels branch, beginning the first chapter of a story that carried the brand to develop, almost twenty years ago, the first helmet for the metropolitan scooterist, that later became a usage phenomenon at the international level.

It is an icon item, which aesthetic survives to time regardless to passing fashion and still today remains the reference in demi-jet range helmets.

It diversify the range with other products dedicated mainly to the male target. Watches, glasses, footwear and leather goods.

The choice to collaborate with some of the most prestigious multinationals has further contributed to the evolution of the brand. A winning policy that has led the brand to become appreciated and recognized in different fields.

2003 - Milan Flagship store

MOMODESIGN’s collection finds its maximum display expression in one brand shops, fundamental point of the brands image and communication abilities at an international level. Cardinal element in the direct relation with the public, MOMODESIGN’s franchising store has perfectly represented the brands’ distinctive signs.

2005 - Motorola

The collaboration with Motorola has brought the advantages of a technological experience to the demi-jet MOMODESIGN: the first homologated helmet with integrated bluetooth.

2011 - Trussardi

The helmet Trussardi 1911 by Momodesign, a demi-jet completely covered in black nappa leather, ideal for urban motorcyclists. An elegant golden metal plaque bearing the greyhound logo of the House of Trussardi is displayed on the sides while on the back embossed into the leather there are both the greyhound and the Momodesign logo side by side.

2011 - Ducati

2012 - Yamaha

The beginning of the Yamaha collaboration for the customization of the limited edition XMAX scooter and two models of jet helmets. A partnership that has seen the birth of three 125cc limited editions, 250cc, the last in 2014 with the X-MAX 400.

2013 - Abu Dhabi Flagship store

MOMODESIGN opens the flagship store in Abu Dhabi, its first concept store in the UAE.

2015 - Bulgari

With Bulgari for a collaboration between luxury and design. The protagonist is the Carbon City Bike MOMODESIGN with a monocoque frame entirely in carbon fiber. Bulgari Hotels & Resorts of Milan, London, Dubai, Shanghai and Beijing wanted to make MOMODESIGN city bikes available to their guests. A project representative of Made in Italy and Italian quality, as well as strongly design.

In addition to the lifestyle world and the prestigious collaborations with important multinationals in different fields, MOMODESIGN has expanded its horizons over the years by developing new concepts that link the brand to the interior design.

URBAN MOBILITY

2013 E-BIKE

MOMODESIGN presents the new range of urban electric city bikes to meet the increasingly need in the city to move around in a healthy and eco-sustainable way. A project designed to meet the most demanding two-wheel lovers, offering quality and elegance in a perfect combination of performance, functional and aesthetic contents.

2016 - FGTR GRAPHENE 1.0

In collaboration with the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) of Genoa, the MOMODESIGN Style Center has created the first Graphene motorcycle helmet in the world with a 100% Made in Italy patent. It is the strongest material known to man, having mechanical properties that are superior to those of steel or any other material. The company has created the first ever Graphene helmet, ushering in a new season of products that exploit the potential of two-dimensional materials (composites) integrated within the structure of traditional materials.

2017

MOMODESIGN enters the era of e-mobility with electric accessories of exclusive design and quality finishes. Hoverboards, scooters, onewheel, new transports that are revolutionizing the way to move and to experience the city in a more dynamic and fun way.

2018

MOMODESIGN proposes HORNET, its first Full-face helmet. MOMODESIGN brand speeds up helmet range development in order to offer the motorbike riders a 360-degree complete offer, by presenting even more technical proposals. HORNET represents the evolution of MOMODESIGN towards a new section of motorbike helmets, the full face; this is a “range revolution”, pushed ahead to satisfy a new category of riders and support its use. It has got new technical solutions for new consumers. HORNET has been projected for the touring-road customer, it embraces MOMODESIGN peculiar stylistic elements: sportsmanship, elegance and technical materials.

2019 MOMO DESIGN BIKE ACCESSORIES

After years of research and creativity, the MOMO Design Bike Accessories line was born. With a complete collection for the urban bike rider to enjoy the city with all their essentials at hand. The product line consists of saddle bags, top tube bags, handlebar bags, gel seat cushion, lights, pumps, child seats and more.
